Craniosacral Therapy - What is It?
|
| |
Craniosacral Therapy was found by Dr. John Upledgere, D.O. of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle hands-on technique used to detect, evaluate and enhance the function of the craniosacral system - the physiological body system comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. This light touch therapy can be used to evaluate and treat malfunctions involving the brain and spinal cord.
Craniosacral Therapy is performed on a person fully clothed. Using a light touch - generally no more than the weight of a nickel - the therapist monitors the rhythm of the craniosacral system to detect potential restrictions and imbalances. The therapist then uses delicate manual techniques to release those problem areas and relieve undue pressure on the brain and spinal cord.
The benefits of Craniosacral Therapy? A body free of restrictions and a body that is able to return to its greatest levels of performance.
Some of the conditions Craniosacral Therapy addresses are:
- Migraines and headaches
- Chronic neck and back pain
- Motor coordination impairments
- Stress and tension related problems
- Chronic fatigue
- Scoliosis
- Central Nervous System Disorders
- Emotional difficulties
- TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome)
- Orthopedic Problems
- Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome
- And many other conditions
If you're experiencing any of these problems, you may want to give Craniosacral Therapy a try!

Raindrop Therapy Technique
|
| |
Raindrop Therapy Technique is a powerful, non-invasive tool for assisting the body in correcting defects in the curvature of the spine. During the years that it has been practiced, it has resolved numerous cases of scoliosis and kyphosis and eliminated the need for back surgery for thousands of people.
Raindrop Technique originated in the 1980s from the research of D. Gary Young working with a Dakota medicine man named Wallace Black Elk. It integrates Vita Flex and massage, utilizing the power of essential oils in bringing the body into structural and electrical alignment.
Raindrop Technique is based on the theory that many types of scoliosis and spinal misalignments are caused by viruses or bacteria that lie dormant along the spine. These pathogens created inflammation, which in turn contorts and disfigures the spinal column.
It is recommended that the Raindrop Technique be performed in a quiet, semi-darkened area free of distractions. The temperature should be cool enough to prevent sweating, but warm enough to be comfortable as the receiver's back and legs will be exposed.

Fibromyalgia (FMS)
|
| |
Fibromyalgia is a musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and the soft tissues of the body.
Who gets Fibromyalgia?
According to statistics, it is commonly seen in women between the ages of 20 and 56. Men are also prone to Fibromyalgia, just not as much.
Symptoms
Sleep abnormalities are seen as one of the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome has been closely associated with FMS. Another sign of Fibromyalgia is an increased sensitivity to pain and toch, as well as hot and cold.
Some treatments/remedies for FMS are:
Massage Therapy
Craniosacral Therapy (Light therapeutic touch; is not Massage Therapy)
Neuromuscular Therapy (Therapeutic)
Relaxation Massage
Steam packs
Accupuncture
Massage therapy is known for being a very therapeutic and healing modality to help release some of the pain and stress of Fibromyalgia.
A thorough medical examination by a Board Certified Medical Physician, D.O., Chiropractor is essential with a diagnosis of Fibromyalgia. Then, a prescription for therapy is advised - to be obtained from a licensed practitioner in massage.
Massage therapy relaxes the muscles and helps further the oxygen and blood flow to the areas of tightness, pain or sensitivity. Massage also helps encourage the endorphins to produce more energy and less tiredness, as well as a relaxed state of mind and body.
If you suffer from Fibromyalgia, you may want to give massage therapy a try!
