Here are some images of Swedish pastepapers from around the middle of the 20th Century.  Pastepapers are made by adding color to either paste or methyl cellulose.  This mixture is then applied to a sheet of paper and then objects are often dragged over the paper to create patterns.  Yes, it is very much like finger painting.  It is easy to do, but hard to replicate patterns.  The first pastepaper is actually Chilean, made by Claudia Constanzo when she bound these into a book for me.
