The ikpi ( belly button ) box is a highly polished soapstone box with a hole just big
enough to place your child's belly button remnant. The Lakotah hide their children's
belly button in a safe and sacred place to protect the life and spirit of the child.
Boxes can be purchased with or without a channel for tying the box with black cord.
The hole is darkened with heated beeswax and has only been left light in the photo
so that you can see it.
Each box is 2 inches x 2 inches x 2 inches.
